Guidelines for Parents

  • Twelve passport size photographs should be submitted at the time of admission.
  • List of important institutes:
  •        National Institute for the Visually Handicapped, Dehradun.
  •        National Institute for the Orthopaedically Handicapped, Calcutta.
  •        Ali Yavar Jung National Institute for the Hearing Handicapped, Bombay.
  •        National Institute for the Mentally Handicapped, Secunderabad
  • .  In addition to the four national institutes, the following two organisations have been working in the field to provide training facilities and services for the rehabilitation of persons with locomotor disabilities:
  • (i)       Institute for the Physically Handicapped (IPH), New Delhi.
  • (ii)      National Institute of Rehabilitation, Training and Research (NIRTAR), Cuttack.
    • Concessions provided by the Government:
    •     Travel concessions- 75 percent concession in train and bus fare and 50 percent concession in air fare.
    •      Government provides pension for the disabled.
    •      In case of army personnel, their disabled children are entitled to family pension, after the demise of the parents.
    •       The government provides tax concession on expenses born for medical treatment.
    •       Government provides medical insurance cover under the scheme NIRAMYA.
    •      Job Reservation of up to five percent in group C is provided by the government, only for the Visually Impaired, Hearing Impaired and Orthopedically Impaired.
    •      Vocational Training is provided at Vocational Rehabilitation Centre for Handicapped (VRCH), established by the government of India.
    •      Scholarship and loans are also provided by the Government of India and it provides assistance for the establishment of any kind of assistive devices required.
  • *Please note that these concessions and benefits are subject to policy changes from the government. You are advised to keep yourself updated to all of the latest developments in this field.
    • A Legal Guardian must be appointed by you for your child.
    • Create a trust for your child.
  • Homework Schedule- IT IS REQUESTED THAT PARENTS CHECK THEIR WARD’S ALMANACK EVERYDAY FOR HOMEWORK, WHICH WILL BE GIVEN AS PER THE FOLLOWING SCHEDULE.
  •      Monday- Maths (Functional Maths/ Applied Maths)
  •      Tuesday- English
  •      Wednesday- Hindi
  •     Thursday- Environmental Science
  •      Friday- Reading (Hindi reading in the first and third week and English reading in the second fourth week)
